The Push Net
is a traditional fishing gear operated widely in Myanmar shallow
water, lake, small river and swamp area. The fishing gear is simple, consisting
of a triangular net forming a bag-shape, its two sides fixed to scissors-like crossed bamboo sticks. The gear
is pushed forward in shallow water either by hand. In Myanmar large scale push net operated by mechanized
boat is prohibited. The main species of fish caught by push net fishing are small miscellaneous fish
and shrimp. |
