2. Men Push Net

Man push net is a triangularly framed collapsible net being operated by one fishermen at 0.5 to 1.5 m depth along the river side, stream, wetland and lake area. The capture of fish is effected by the forward pushing of the net by fishermen. From time to time, fishermen raised the net to pickup the catch.
The fishing gear consists of net , two scissors shape poles and long bag or cod-end. The net is mostly constructed from fine twine nylon multifilament 210d/6 and nylon monofilament about 0.25 mm diameter with a mesh size of 10 mm. Plastic (Penang bag) is used at the cod end. Some place nylon knotless netting is used for push net. The length of the net is about 2.5 to 3.5 m while the ground rope is 2.46 to 3.20 m. The poles are either made of bamboo pole and it is 3 to 4 m with diameter of about 4 to 5 m long, depending on the size of the gear. The ends of the poles are provided with wooden shoes to prevent the pole from sticking the bottom. A tickler chain is some time placed in front of the ground rope to stimulated shrimps to jump into the net during pushing.
