The stow net is conical in shape like trawl net, with or without
wings depending on the local practice and experience. The net is made of polyethylene twine
of 380D/6 to 380D/12 or nylon 210D/6 raschel net. Mesh size is 25 mm-30 mm at the net mouth and
5 mm – 10 mm at the cod-end. The mouth of the net is fastened to two fix poles against the current.
When the current carrying the fish goes through the net, fishes are collected in the cod-end. Stow nets are operated
year round during day or at night, usually from after high tide to the lowest tide. |
