The crab trap varies in shape depending on the species to
be caught. The square type crab rap is commonly used for mangrove crab. It have two entrances at
opposite sides. The size of the trap is 38 cm to 40 cm in length, 11 cm in height and 23 cm to 27 cm wide.
The trap frame is made of bamboo or steel with polyethylene 380D/15, 50 mm mesh size net put around
the trap frame. Normally, a piece of fish is placed in the center of the trap as bait. It is set in the
river, or near mangrove areas. The traps are hauled once or twice a day.
