The eel trap is a vertically positioned bottle shaped trap
with an entrance cone on the side, near the base. It’s total height is 40 cm to 66 cm and widest
diameter is 60 – 140 mm. The circular entry cone 55 mm to 60 mm and is made of very thin, 80 mm long bamboo spikes
that are narrowed down to 40 mm at the end of the entrance. Small bait basket is hung inside
the trap. The eel trap is a very popular fishing gear for small scale fishermen. It is operated in the flood plains
and rice field during the raining season. The trap is tied to a wooden pole with the bottom standing on the ground
and the upper part of the trap above the water surface. A past of fish and snails which produce a very
strong small, as used as bait.
