Stick held dip net is one of the most common types of fishing
gear in Myanmar. It consists of a fine net tied and suspended at four corners from a frame. A small
hand-held version is commonly used in quiet water along river sides, in canals and in the wet lands. The
frame in larger versions is attached to a beam that tripod providing leverage to lift the net out of the
water. The net is left in the water for some time and then raise slowly carrying any fish which were above the net. |
