Hand Line

The structure of the hand line is very simple. In general, a hand line consists of a main line, some branch lines with hook and sinker. The main line is used PE 3 mm in diameter or PA monofilament of 2 mm diameter. The branch lines are used PA monofilament about 1 – 2 mm diameter. The end of the hand line carries a stone serving as cast weight. It is about 50 gm. The stone sinker or anchor at the end of the line is set out into the river as far as possible, while the line holder is stuck into the bottom on the shore maintaining a certain tension on the line. The fisher hauls the line up once every 10 to 15 minutes in order to check the catch and re-bait the hooks if needed. It is used in rivers with weak currents at a depth of 3 m to 5 m. The hand line can be used for catching river catfish, fresh water shank and striped catfish.
