Nylon monofilament is popular used than nylon multifilament for netting material for set gill net. The specifications such as the mesh size, the length and height of the net and hanging ratio vary for different species. The most common material for set gill net is the nylon monofilament of 0.2mm to 0.3 mm diameter and mesh sizes from (15)mm to ( 125 )mm. These nets are fixed to the bottom or at a certain distance above it, by means of bamboo poles. Set gill nets are operated in shallow waters areas where the depth ranges between ( 1 )m to ( 5 )m.
