     There are many types of lift net used in Vietnam . They operate in the coastal waters, estuaries and lagoons, and the target species are small pelagic fishes living near the shore like thryssa, anchovy, sardine etc. Nowadays, there are many lift-netters using lights and fish shelters so they can operate in the deeper waters and capture species having higher valuable like the black pomfret, scad, mackerel etc. However, in general, lift net fishery is a small-scale fishery with short duration fishing trips.
