Panau (Ring net for black pomfret)
The gear is used in the coastal areas usually towards
the other end of Seria. The FADs are first set up to aggregate
all the fish caught a few days earlier. Before the operation
takes place, a man dives into the water at the FAD and serves
as a substitute for the FAD as the fish (black pomfret) swim
to him. The diver then brings them to another place. The gear
is set up around the man, and rings are pulled together to trap
the pomfrets.
