"Seafloor Survey using Underwater Video Camera"

To identify the benthic resources and seafloor features, the underwater VDO camera was using for the seafloor survey. Techniue of towing the sledge attached with underwater VDO camera was introduced to the participants on October 19, 2010 during the workshop on "Methodologies for Study on Impact of Fishing to Deep-Sea Ecosystem".

The underwater VDO sled was design to maintains contact with the seafloor while towed. The VDO camera was mounted at the center of the sled to protect the camera from damage. The sled was towed at slow ship speed about 1-2 kts to obtained a clear image. During the trials, the VDO camera was mounted both forward and backward inorder to compared the visual in difference camera's direction.

The demonstration was sucessfully observed the seafloor and recorded the VDO files.
