Socioeconomic Database of Small-scale Fisheries in Southeast Asia

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) has implemented the Departmental Program Activity 3.2 Development of database system to support fisheries socio-economic and small-scale fisheries study aim to develop the database system of small-scale fisheries data for the SEAFDEC/TD project.

Pilot site : Krabi, Thailand

The Small-scale Fisheries Management for Better Livelihood and Fisheries Resources project has conducted the activities in application of EAFM in the learning site of Krabi Province, Thailand. The project carried out the baseline survey in the learning site to know the status and make better understanding the situation and need for develop the EAFM plan, in addition, it can be useful to monitor the change after project. The data was collected from 8 Districts of Krabi Province, with 382 respondents since March until April 2021 according to the respective sampling number.

The data collection method and analysis

1. The data collection period was March-April 2021 in eight (8) District of Krabi Province. The data collection be involved both quantitative and qualitative data.

2. Due to limitaion of time and budget, the sampling number is 382 (Table 1.), calculated by Yamane formula at 90% confidence level.

3. The raw data be input in the excel program, and be analyzed by using descriptive statistic in term of frequency, percentages and means.
